Memorandum — on executive function

Intelligence is abundant. The public record is unambiguous: AI passes the uniform bar exam, matches radiologists at detecting tuberculosis on chest X-rays, and ships working code end to end. Whatever the ceiling turns out to be, raw capability is no longer the scarce input.

What remains scarce is executive function — planning, supervision, an audit trail, accountability. Not the capacity to do work: the capacity to be answerable for it.

The failure record is public too. An airline held by a tribunal to a refund policy its chatbot invented. A lawyer sanctioned after citing six court cases that never existed. A $365,000 settlement over AI screening. None of these are stories about weak models. They are stories about capable systems operating without anyone able to say, afterward, what was supposed to happen and whether it did.

That gap has a name in people: executive function. On a keyboard, it has a key.

Our first offer is stated in six clauses on the front page. The discipline underneath it is one sentence: work is not delivered until it passes acceptance checks derived from your requirements. We would rather state a check than an assurance. An assurance asks you to trust us; a check states what has to happen.

The limits are printed at the same size as the promises. Most builds run overnight — a pattern we observe, not a promise we sell. We run a small number of builds at a time, which is the entire mystery of the waitlist.
